Rihanna is a no show at 2024 Met Gala despite teasing an outfit to fans

While Rihanna was one of the most anticipated stars at Monday's Met Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, she did not make it to the proceedings. 

The singer and style icon, 36, was 'sick with the flu,' an insider told People on Monday, and could not attend after teasing what her ensemble would be like to the fans.

The Saint Michael, Barbados native was seen Saturday evening in Miami with her boyfriend, rapper A$AP Rocky, 35, at his Puma pop-up shop.

The Umbrella vocalist, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, had sported pink hair at the event, prompting speculation it would complement her Met Gala ensemble.

Rihanna had traveled to the Big Apple following the Miami trip, an insider told Page Six on Monday, adding that a stylist of the vocalist 'was seen at the Carlyle Hotel greeting the security team that carried her jewels' for the gathering.

The Grammy-winning musical artist had been planning on attending this year's festivities, as she spoke with Extra on April 27 about her fashion plans for the annual event.

'I'm actually just keeping it real simple this year,' Rihanna told the outlet as she was at a promotional event for her Fenty Beauty line in Los Angeles. 

She added: 'Very simple... I think it's gonna come to what my makeup and what my hair is going to do. We wanna play with that, but I have no idea what I'm gonna do with that.'

The Don’t Stop the Music singer said her ensemble would be 'very simple-ish... compared to everything [she's] ever done.'

She added, 'I'm showing up for dinner! Shout out to Anna Wintour.'

Rihanna, along with Katy Perry, was depicted as having attended the gala in fake images that circulated Monday evening. 

Rihanna wasn't the only superstar missing from the red carpet on Monday, as Beyoncé and Taylor Swift also skipped the proceedings; neither have attended since 2016, according to The New York Times.

Among the big names who made their presence felt at the Met Gala included Zendaya and Jennifer Lopez.
